THIS IS THE LANGHE
A region known for its hills, sophisticated cuisine, and Nebbiolo–the greatest grape in the world.
Our friend Rodolfo Migliorini is the owner of the most innovative winery in Piemonte: Rocche dei Manzoni. He is not from the area, but neighboring Emilia Romagna. At his parents’ restaurant in Piacenza, his mother, Jolanda, was one of the first female chefs in Italy to earn a Michelin star. His father, Valentino, fell in love with the Langhe during his frequent trips to buy wine for their restaurant. During the early 70’s the family bought a farm in Monforte d’Alba, and set about making wine in the style that Valentino Migliorini had dreamt of. The estate is responsible for many developments, many now common practice throughout the area. But Rodolfo considers himself a simple farmer, and remains focused on making the best possible wine in the world.
